What to Bring & Wear on the Niagara Falls Cruise
A poncho is included — and you will still get wet. The mist near the Horseshoe Falls is the whole point of the ride, so the goal isn’t to stay dry; it’s to be comfortable and to keep the things that matter out of the spray.
What to wear
- A complimentary recyclable poncho is provided. Wear it — the mist gets intense near the falls.
- Closed-toe shoes with grip, like sneakers. Decks can be wet and slippery.
- Quick-drying fabrics. Cotton feels heavy once it’s damp. Dress for the weather and expect to be outdoors during check-in, boarding, and the cruise.
- Seasonal layers. Sunscreen and a hat in summer; a light jacket in spring and fall. The FAQ notes it gets breezy on the water, so bring an extra layer even on a warm day.
The dress code is casual — jeans, shorts, t-shirts, sweaters, and sneakers are all fine.
Protect your phone
If you plan to take photos near the spray, bring a waterproof case or a zip-top bag. Expect spray on your face, arms, shoes, and phone, especially as the boat approaches Horseshoe Falls.
Bags — what's allowed
Small personal bags are permitted:
- Small purses and handbags
- Diaper bags
- Camera bags
- Small backpacks — maximum size 7″ × 15″ × 16″
Bags — what's not permitted
Leave these behind; they won’t be allowed on board:
- Suitcases, roller bags, and briefcases
- Coolers and oversized items
- Outside food and drinks
- Tobacco, cannabis, and vape products — the experience is smoke-free
Guests and bags may be screened before boarding, so travelling light makes the whole process faster.
A few ticket rules worth knowing
- Every guest needs a valid ticket, including infants — there’s no lap-infant exception.
- Minors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
For the full boarding, weapons, and cancellation policies, see the FAQ.
Dress for the conditions, not the forecast
A hot afternoon at street level can feel cool and wet at the base of the falls. See weather & cancellations for how conditions affect the cruise, and the best time of day if you’d rather trade the drenching for lighter evening mist.
